Original Fiction: Outlands - Sons of the Path, part 4

Now I bet this is a surprise! Yes, the next chapter is out after only a week instead of six months, in part due to the lovely comments and the cries of YAGH, CLIFFIE! that prompted me to get off my lazy arse and write. The chapter after this will hopefully be out in a couple of weeks; it's already written but needs an additional few paragraphs here and there. You see? I'm not that cruel, bar the vicious cliffhangers all over the place. Enjoy!

Original Fiction: Outlands - Sons of the Path, part 3

My sincerest apologies to anyone who was waiting for the next bit of Outlands. Life, as they say, happened. The toddler and the job are both very fun, frantic and fulfilling, and seem to have taken over that vein of creativity that used to drive me to write. I've not touched the word processor since I posted that last chapter, back in - ye gods, that long ago?

My computer contributed to the situation by dying in instalments. I'm now the proud owner of a spanking brand new PC that can run Dragon Age Awakening, Mass Effect 2, The Witcher and many others without breaking a sweat, which is another reason why I've not been writing much these past months *embarrassed cough*...When I finally did get around to unpacking my Word Doc files and sorting them away, several abandoned stories shamed me into kicking my inspiration back into gear and not leaving things unfinished. Hence this chapter and the next, which should be out soon (no, really, I mean it this time), and hopefully others as well. Now, on with the story!

This picks up where the last chapter left off, so re-reading the last one might be necessary to remember some of the who-and-whats.

Original fiction: Outlands. Sons of the Path arc, part 2

I wish I had a good excuse for this long a silence, but a lot of it was spent playing Dragon Age: Origins, so the best I can do is grovel abjectly in apolgoy and get on with the posting again. A big thanks for the comments on the previous chapter which I will be answering, as they're pretty much the only thing that kicked my inspiration back into the driver's seat.

[On the Real Life front, the new job continues to be interesting, and the projects I'm building and working on by myself seem to be tapping into my creative drive, which normally get highly frustrated if I don't write at least every week. Good thing for me, not so good for Outlands and anything else I might have felt inclined to write. I should finish this arc at least, and I soooo want to write the other ones, too. I'll just have to skewer my inspiration to the sticking spot (the spouse stealing the PS3 for his little war games should help too).]

I iz back (for those who are interested in the author's real life)

Wow, almost a month of radio silence. I wish I could say I'd spent that month working fervently on Outlands or something constructive, but nah ^^; Real Life took over for awhile, and is still in full swing. Nothing bad, quite the contrary; I landed a very interesting (if challenging) new job, which means I am FINALLY out of the madhouse where I'd worked for an embarrassing number of years. The advantage of the madhouse is that I'd kind of given up doing a good job against all the odds my company had stacked against me, so I did not hesitate to goof off for an hour every day to write or play around with fanfiction. Now I have a real job again, as well as a two-year-old kid and a fierce two-week-long head cold, my writing output has faltered down to nothing. The fact that I was playing Brutal Legend on the PS3 has NOTHING to do with my laziness writer's block, nothing I tell you! Besides, I finished it now.

I'm posting the second arc of Outlands, whcih I'd written before the blackout started. Posting will come in fits and starts as I pick up something that resembles a writing schedule again (I hope).

Crap, kid woke up and is climbing the walls. Lemme go post this chapter, and then Mal over and out.

Original fiction: Outlands - 'Family, Friends, Sons and Lovers' part 1

A busy two weeks on the writing front (actually, every front). I've finished the next arc - it's fairly short, only three chapters - and I'm working on the one after that. This is Mal, still having fun ^_^ This single standalone chapter is almost as long as the arc, ironically. But whereas arcs advance the storyline, these chapters are mainly for fun and fleshing out the background and characters. I broke it into two parts to give the readers a break between all things Assyrian. I'll post the next part today or tomorrow, when I have the time. Enjoy!

Original Fiction: Outlands - 'Social Insurance Number'

Another intermediate chapter, muuuuch shorter than the previous one.

Incidentally, I've been organizing this fic a bit and putting all the chapters in order in the 'link to all chapter' page. The overall fiction is called 'Outlands'. 'Out' is the name of the first arc. These intermediate chapters each have their own title, while each arc will also have a name. Thanks once again for all the comments! They're great fuel for my inspiration ^_^
